This digital doula download is part of my 'Holistic How To' series with my favourite suggestions for honouring the journey we went through on the anniversary of our births - with a license for doulas, midwives and birth workers to include in client handouts.
Whether our births are joyful or traumatic - they deserve to be honoured. And not just straight after - but year after year. We'll never forget our births, and we deserve to be asked how we feel about it and to have our story heard - no matter how long ago it was. What we've experienced seems too easily forgotten and dismissed in our society.
I don't think it's right that the anniversary of our child's birth is all about celebrating them! What about us mummies and birthing parents? We deserve to be celebrated for all the hard work we went though to conceive, grow and birth that baby. And if no-one else wants to celebrate us then we can honour ourselves.
It's important to me to establish some rituals and traditions for myself and us as a family that we'll do every birthday.
And in the interests of encouraging other birthing people and mothers to honour themselves in the same way, I'm making a poster about!
